01

ROLE & CONTRIBUTION

My primary responsibility was within the electrical systems team, where I supported component design, wiring integration, PCB assembly and preparation of the car for Formula Student competition.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT

BRAKE LIGHT

Designed a compact brake-light assembly with a removable rear cover to allow PCB access while maintaining secure mounting and Formula Student packaging requirements.

03

DRIVER INTERFACE

CAD development was also used to explore the dashboard and driver interface, incorporating the display, emergency controls and indicator hardware into a compact panel suitable for vehicle integration.

GENERATIVE DESIGN & FEA

Beyond my primary electrical role, I explored mechanical design and simulation through generative-design development of an upright, evaluating geometry and stress distribution to reduce mass while retaining structural load paths.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

01
CROSS-DISCIPLINE DEVELOPMENT

Working outside a purely mechanical role developed my understanding of electrical integration and vehicle systems.

02
DESIGN FOR INTEGRATION

Packaging electrical and mechanical components reinforced the importance of interfaces, serviceability and system-level design.

03
TEAM ENGINEERING

Formula Student provided practical experience of collaborative problem-solving under competition deadlines.

“Formula Student gave me the opportunity to work outside my original comfort zone, combining electrical systems, CAD, simulation and hands-on integration within one vehicle programme.”
